A Nigerian woman, Helen Williams, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest handmade wig. Her creation measures an incredible 351.28 meters (1,152 ft 5 in).
Williams, who is a hairstylist from Lagos, Nigeria, spent 11 days and over N2,000,000 (£2,031; $2,493) to make the wig. She used 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and 6,250 hair clips to complete the masterpiece.
The wig was officially measured and certified by Guinness World Records on November 10, 2023. It is now on display at the HairCraft Africa hairdressing school in Lagos.
Williams said she was inspired to make the wig to promote Nigerian culture and creativity. She also wanted to show that Nigerians are capable of achieving great things.
"I am very happy and proud to have set this record," said Williams. "I hope it will inspire other Nigerians to follow their dreams and achieve their goals."
Williams's achievement is a major accomplishment for Nigeria and for the world of hairstyling. It is a testament to her creativity, skill, and dedication.
Congratulations to Helen Williams on her amazing achievement!
I hope her story will inspire others to reach for their dreams and achieve great things.
