Details
**(CNN)--**At least seven people were killed and nine others were wounded in a bus explosion in western Kabul on Tuesday, according to a police spokesman.
The blast occurred at around 7:00 a.m. local time in the Karte Seh area of the city, Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran told CNN. The bus was carrying passengers from the western province of Herat to Kabul when it was targeted by the explosion.
"The target of the attack was the bus," Zadran said. "A sticky bomb was attached to the bus."
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban has been blamed for similar attacks in the past.
The explosion comes as Afghanistan is facing a wave of violence. In recent weeks, there have been a number of bombings and attacks targeting civilians, security forces, and the government.
**The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has condemned the attack, saying it is "a clear violation of international humanitarian law."**
"UNAMA is deeply concerned by the rising levels of violence in Afghanistan, which are causing immense suffering to the Afghan people," the UN agency said in a statement. "UNAMA calls for an immediate end to all violence and for all parties to respect international humanitarian law."
